It will be great to have it back in Taranaki, its well worth the trip up there. It would be nice to see the cruises change in differant areas maybe, over all but a well planned event, looking forward to it.

I attended today's event in Stratford. Being a local. The atmosphere was amazing and the turn out of vehicles and spectators was phenominal. Awesome to have the event back in the Naki after a bit of a break.A big thumbs up to John Rae and his team to make this event a reality. :)

Our first visit to Americarna Taranaki is without a doubt a memory encased with us forever. The hospitality shown to us by John & Diane Rae and their family, Toni Fabish, Lydia & Shaun, Sheryl, the people of the small town stops, the volunteers, the departments involved and the people on route throughout was impeccable. We met up with long lost friends and made many new lasting friends from throughout New Zealand and further afar. The camaraderie of Hot Rodding is obviously still alive and kicking. We sincerely hope that all other entrants enjoyed the event as much as we did and that you all had a safe and happy trip home. See you all again in 2014. AMERICARNA ROCKS !!!! We had heard about and were intrigued by this American hot rod event in far away New Zealand. We then met John Rae "JR" who convinced us to come and see for ourselves. All we can say is "WOW! What an amazing event!" It started with the people. JR and Toni Fabish (Co-Coordinator) for their guidance as we prepared for our trip - from what airline to take, routes to travel, and sights to see once we arrived. It continued by meeting Mark and Sue at Junior's Hot Rods' in Lower Hutt. They very graciously gave up their Sunday to meet us and give us a personal tour of their shop. We then met them the next day and they led us in a caravan from Lower Hutt to New Plymouth. It was a very special privilege to drive JR's 1932 Ford roadster on this trip. It continued each morning during breakfast, when very generous participants offered us one of their cars to drive when they learned we didn't bring a car from the United States. JR very generously loaned us his 1932 roadster and also his daughter's 1969 Boss Mustang to drive on the rainy days. Nothing can prepare you for the number of people who park, stand or sit on the side of the road as the cars caravan by. Seeing children from many schools, residents from rest homes, neighbors gathered together with barbecues, car enthusiasts and farmers on the side of the road, waving and cheering - many with American flags, dressed in red, white and blue - it was quite a patriotic thrill for us. The friendly communities that decorated storefront windows, enthusiastically greeted the 600+ cars with smiles, cheers and "Old Glory" waving was amazing to experience. So, thank you to everyone who waited (some in the rain and cold) on the side of the road, at front porches, in parks and in their vehicles. Although we were the show you came to see - YOU made it part of the show-stopping memories that we will keep with us. A special thanks to Ivan and Christine, in their incredible 1955 Chevy truck, who embraced us warmly and took us under their wing and showed us what this amazing event is all about. We were also pleased to meet Peter and his partner Yvonne in their 1935 Ford Coupe. They very graciously allowed us to ride with them, on Sunday, part way back to Auckland. The cars were great but it was the people who opened their hearts and made a couple of foreigners feel welcome. We have made some friends for life and we look forward to a return visit one day. Thank you so much for your Kiwi Hospitality! Esther & Scott
