Mustang Rebuild Update 9

Thursday 18th February 2010

The Last Week! And what a week its going to be. Car left C & M Performance late last Friday back to Engine Dynamics to allow Craig the weekend to fit the coated exhaust and finish off tasks.

Unfortunately some parts Craig ordered were incorrect which meant Kelly at Stitches didn't get the car until 'late' Monday.  However, they are going hard out to get there with three of them working on it.  Their hold up today is the carpet which hasn't turned up!  So C & M Performance won't see it now until sometime mid to late Thursday!!  They still have the built dash harness to fit, dash top, engine wiring harness, hard line for aircon, change aircon, make ignition leads, mount crank trigger, fit offset drive distributor and on it goes.

We need CJ to run the car Saturday and turn it as I'm planning to leave at 5am to drive to Auckland to pick it up and get it home so we can fit the K brace in the engine bay, fit the hood (which may need a hole cut for the injection?!) do very basic toe in check, clean and have it to Steve Hildred Monday morning for wheel alignment and complete any last minute odd jobs.  So it will be very tight to have here ready to run Wednesday for the start of Americarna.

I've offered the car to Dale and Peter Coster to use as we want to get some shake down miles on it long before Brooke takes it to Invercargill.  I'm sweating right now!

One thing I do know for sure, when we get the car there will be no issue starting it as we have our battery from Century Batteries.  We chose Century Optima based on two points;  Firstly, we use these in all the toys and have had unbelieveable reliability.  We can leave the 55 unstarted for 6 months and the battery still has enough grunt to start it.  Secondly, they are heavily involved in motorsport and hot rodding so when you need batteries, make sure it's from Century.

See you at Americarna.
